Maybe not hurt some monster site like Wikipedia, but definitely could, the little guys who just had the fortune of achieving pos 1 for a certain keyword – and now some joker want’s the position for themselves. Can’t get it due to some unchangeable factor like domain age, resorts to sabotage by submitting the competitor to as many garbage link farms as they can find- for dirt cheap (yes pay) if the “investment” in “anti-seo” is equivalent to any other tactics. SE’s can’t “admit” this, because the repercussions would reverberate far beyond the seo community.

Hello,just gone through your blog its very interesting got to learn about the inbound links which earlier I was’nt well awared of but all I can say is inbound links may or may not hurt it totally depends on the site ..you are right to an extent .

Inbound links are not all or nothing. Some we have control of and some we don’t. The question is are the search engines smart enough to know which is which?

It is true that we have no control in our inbound links, they can create link pointing to our site without our permission. World wide web is very big for use to monitor it. Links from bad neighbors somehow can hurt our site it will lessen our site reputation.

You seem to be saying that you have no control of inbound links and thus your website rankings can’t be hurt by these links. I disagree. I have control of many inbound links. Isn’t this what link-building is all about?

“Some links are more valuable in a ranking sense than others, some can even hurt your ranking in google” You seem to be saying here that some inbound links can hurt your ranking. If this is what you are saying here I would have to disagree. Nothing that is not under your controll can harm your rankings. No inbound links can harm you Rankings!
